Traxxas 5891 SCT Paddle Tires

Traxxas 5891 SCT Paddle Tires

The star of our today’s review is the Traxxas 5891 SCT Paddle Tires. If you love bashing your RC on sandy areas, these are the tires you can rely on.

Let me tell you why these tires are so special. And made it to the first position on our list.

First of all, these tires have satin-chrome Beadlock style patterns. This makes the tire exquisite for grip. That’s why this Traxxas Paddle tire is a beast on both dry and wet sand.

It has huge sand/gravel rooster tails. So, you get non-stop performance on the sand with 3-cell LiPo.

Apart from performing excellently on the sand, this tire is also a good performer on snow and mud.

The best thing is this tire comes pre-glued with foam inserts. So, you won’t have to buy foams separately.

Well, though it has good traction, it doesn’t perform equally on all surfaces. I wouldn’t recommend driving this tire on hard dirt or the road.

Also, it’s a bit pricey as it costs around $35-$40. But it really utilizes the full power of your RC car. This makes it worth the investment you’re making.

Pros

  • Maximum traction in mud, sand, and snow surfaces.
  • Already foam inserts included.
  • Has perfect grip on the hard wet sand.
  • Performs excellently while hard bashing..
  • Gives your RC car a hydroplane look in the sand.

Cons

  • Not a good performer on hard dirt and road.

Duratrax Bandito ST 2.8″ 2WD DTXC3542

Duratrax Bandito ST 2.8" 2WD DTXC3542

Next we have another outstanding tire from Duratrax Bandito. It’s the Duratrax Bandito ST 2.8″ 2WD DTXC3542 that won our hearts.

For high traction fields, this tire works like a charm. Pair it up with the best 2S Lipo battery, you’ll see the result with your own eyes.

They make your RC car run faster. You can drive your Traxxas Slash 2WD at more than 70mph speed.

Not to mention the excellent grip. Once your RC vehicle is heated up, you’ll see the tire working. They grip better on both hard and smooth surfaces. So, you don’t have to worry about the surface anymore!

Another great aspect of this tire is that the tires are glued to the rims. However, this tire has a different material composition than the previous tire. They have mounted rears with C2 compounds.

Again, this tire is way too cheaper than the Traxxas 5891 tire. They have a price difference of approximately $10.

But apart from great functionality, it has a small drawback. It doesn’t fit some Traxxas models such as the Rustler 4×4 VXL. But for Slash 2WD it’s awesome!

So, it is a good tire in a better price range. You can count on this tire for your Traxxas Slash 2WD.

Pros

  • Perfect for high traction conditions.
  • Performs best for high-speed runs with 2S LiPo batteries.
  • Gives your RC car more than 70mph speed.
  • Has a great rim and tire combination look.
  • Fits excellently in Traxxas Slash 2WD

Cons

  • Doesn’t fit the front and the rear of the Rustler 4×4 VXL

Traxxas 3773A Anaconda Tires

Traxxas 3773A Anaconda Tires

Moving on to our next favorite tire on the list. It’s another great addition from Traxxas – the Traxxas 3773A Anaconda Tires.

The specialty of this tire is the tread pattern. With these tires, you can run smoothly and race like a pro! So, you can guess that it is a beast on the roads.

It is made from high-quality materials. So, you have to worry less about the longevity of the tires. As per the manufacturer’s recommendation, you can use this tire for about 15 years.

If you want to get most of this tire, you can use Traxxas stock and hop-up replacement parts. This will give you an edge using the tire in Traxxas RTR vehicles.

Comparing this Traxxas tire with the Traxxas 5891 we discussed above, this is much cheaper. Unlike the previous two tires, the Traxxas 3773A Anaconda Tires fit in the electric rears.

But there are a few limitations of this tire. The glues are a bit sloppy around the edges of the tire. You have to take care of this before fitting in your RC.

Again, it’s good with 2S LiPos but doesn’t work well with 3S LiPos.

Pros

  • Best tire for road racing
  • Perfect tread pattern for holding grips
  • The black chrome rims give the tire an appealing look.
  • Extremely soft and balloons like crazy.

Cons

  • Sloppy gluing on the tires.
  • Doesn’t perform well with 3S LiPo.

Traxxas 5883A BF Goodrich Mud Terrain Tires

Traxxas 5883A BF Goodrich Mud Terrain Tires

We are almost near the end of our review list. The next best tire we have is the Traxxas 5883A BF Goodrich Mud Terrain Tires.

We’re calling it the “Muddy Road Conqueror”. Unlike the previous tires we reviewed above, this tire rules on the muddy road!

With great grip and traction, it doesn’t slip. So, it becomes easier for you to handle your RC in the worst road arrangements.

This tire has a blue Beadlock which is quite different from the tires we reviewed here. If you want your 2WD to look different from your competitors, this is what you need.

It also has a black SCT Split-Spoke tread pattern. No wonder why it performs excellently in the mud!

But here’s the best part. This Traxxas 5883A is the most inexpensive tire among all of the tires on our list.

So, you’re getting good grips with the lowest budget. Isn’t that great!

However, there’s a small limitation here that you should keep in mind. This tire scratches very easily. So, if you are too concerned about it, this tire might be off for you. But we consider it to be an insignificant aspect.

So, what do you think? Are you keeping it on your priority list?

Well, we got one last tire to review. Check out the next section. I hope then you’ll be able to make up your mind.

Pros

  • Best fit racing on muddy surfaces.
  • Give a tough look to your RC car.
  • Uncomplicated installation process.
  • Has the perfect grip on roads.

Cons

  • Gets scratches very easily.

Traxxas 3689 Stampede Paddle Tires

Traxxas 3689 Stampede Paddle Tires

Finally, we have one last piece of badass tire left for you! You won’t regret buying the Traxxas 3689 Stampede Paddle Tires which rock on any surface.

If you want your RC car to speed on wet snow or sand, this tire is the one to choose! The rim of the tire provides great protection against the cold.

This tire is larger than any other tire we reviewed in this article. It’s basically useful for bigger RC cars and trucks. So, if you have a large-sized Traxxas Slash 2WD, you should choose these tires.

If you love the hyper-aggressive looks of your RC vehicle, these tires can bring that look. The tires are made from polypropylene, a durable rubber compound. So, you don’t have to worry about the wearability of the tire.

Despite having some really good features, these tires are too expensive. It’s the most expensive one on the list! The reason why we kept it at the end of our priority list.

But the size compensates for the extra price you’ll pay. So, technically they are charging for the extra value they are providing. That’s why we don’t have any complaints against these tires.

Pros

  • Make your RC car run at 50mph on dunes.
  • Larger tires for your large RC vehicles.
  • Works perfectly for 6 months at a stretch.
  • Has an energetic sound that makes the RC car races more fun.

Cons

  • Not for people who don’t love black chrome.
  • You might face glue issues with a 3S battery.

RC Tire Buying Guide: 3 Things You Shouldn’t Miss!

RC Tire Buying Guide: 3 Things You Shouldn’t Miss!

You can already guess what’s more important in RC tires. But in case you miss anything, I have put a small buying guide here. It’s a list of things that you MUST check before you purchase an RC tire.

So, here are the 3 things you should consider checking:

Compound

To identify grip and traction quality, tire compound matters a lot. RC tires come in a variety of compounds such as rubber, plastic, carbon, etc.

When you want a less grip but higher durability, choose the harder compounds. On the contrary, if you’re concerned about the speed, go for a softer compound.

Tire Inserts

Tire inserts help to dictate the ride. Softer foams offer more flexible rides. Again, you’ll get a firm ride by using stiffer foams. It’s all about how the inserts create a pressure inside the tire.

Most of the RC tires come with pre-installed mounted foam inserts. So, you have to worry less about them.

Surface

Lastly, you must check whether the tire can run on your preferred surface. Because of different tread patterns, tires are designed to run on different surfaces.

These surfaces include muddy roads, asphalt, concrete surface, snow, and sandy areas. So, choose your tires wisely depending on the surface.

How do I stop my Traxxas Slash from flipping?

To stop your Traxxas Slash from flipping, you can use shock limiters in it. Also, a heavier shock oil helps in this case. What they do is lower the RC’s center of gravity. So, the vehicle remains steady. It stops the car from flipping frequently.

What hex size is Traxxas Slash?

The Traxxas Slash has a hex size of 12 mm. For this reason, when you choose a wheel, you must consider a hex of 12 mm. Well, different RC cars require separate hex sizes. But to be on the safer side, you can always choose a 12 mm hex size.

Conclusion
